Geeking With Stack

News and announcements for all things Stack, including new releases, themes and customizations.

Stack 2.1.3 is available

A new version of Stack is now available, with several minor bugs fixed. All of these minor bug fixes and templates have been tested both on local and hosted servers and are all working okay.

If you are going to do a fresh install using the 2.1.3 release, make sure to download the Full Install zip.
If you are just going to upgrade from 2.1.2 to 2.1.3 release, download the Conversion zip.
You can check the download links here.

Upgrading from 2.1.2 to 2.1.3

The upgrade zip contains files that were updated according to recently reported bugs. Make sure to upload them to their rightful folders to overwrite the old files. If you have made changes to these files from 2.1.2, front-end-wise, make sure to save a backup for that, so you can re-add these changes to the upgraded file. Once you have everything uploaded on your server, go to your TCG’s website to run the upgrade script (e.g. https://yourtcg.tld/upgrade/).

NOTE: The conversion does have minor changes to your database, which will only update the version of the script, so there is no need to backup your database. However, if you feel the need for security purposes, it is highly recommended to back up your database just in case.

If you find any regression or critical bug, please report here:

Stack 2.1.1 is available

A new version of Stack is now available, with several minor bugs fixed with slight additions of game templates. All of these minor bug fixes and templates have been tested both on local and hosted servers and are all working okay. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who brought the bugs to my attention. Your constant reporting, be it minor or trivial, helps me a lot to make the script even better than it is.

If you are going to do a fresh install using the 2.1.1 release, make sure to download the Full Install zip.
If you are just going to upgrade from 2.1.0 [Beta 2] to 2.1.1 release, download the Conversion zip.

Upgrading from 2.1.0 [Beta 2] to 2.1.1

The upgrade zip contains files that were updated according to recently reported bugs. Make sure to upload them to their rightful folders to overwrite the old files. Once you have everything uploaded on your server, go to your TCG’s website to run the upgrade script (e.g. https://yourtcg.tld/upgrade/).

I have finally added the template for password gate games with multiple answers, make sure to check the template file and read any commented line before making a new game. Other additions are the templates for the upcoming vote. Since I’ve received some feedbacks regarding the dropdown fields, you can now select which template suits your TCG. There is the sets template where a single dropdown field is assigned per available set; another one is the categories template where a single dropdown field is assigned per available category; and lastly, a general voting form that you can define how many dropdown fields to appear for all available upcoming decks, regardless of their sets and categories.

NOTE: The conversion does have minor changes to your database, so for security purposes, it is highly recommended to back up your database just in case.

Stack 2.0.0 [Alpha] is available

A new version of Stack is now available, with several bugs fixed and newly added features. All of the added features have been tested both on local and hosted servers and are all working okay. I cannot confidently say that this new version is bug-free as I may still have missed some small ones while checking the script. Hence, I would be very much happy if users can help me find bugs by reporting them to our tracker.

If you are going to do a fresh install using the 2.0.0 release, make sure to download the Full Install zip.
You can check the download links here.

Upgrading from 1.10.3 to 2.0.0

There haven’t been any partial changelogs that were shared to our closed Discord server. Since the newest version has undergone a major revamp, an upgrade is not recommended if you are using 1.1.x and below. It is highly recommended to make a fresh installation instead, so you are guaranteed an error-free installation.

NOTE: Please make sure to back up everything if you have to, especially your database! If you have already made your own theme, backup those as well since the full installation includes Stack’s generic themes—it also has its necessary changes, so make sure to apply those changes to your own theme too.

If you find any regression or critical bug, please report here:

Stack 1.10.3 is available

A new version of Stack is now available, with several bugs fixed and newly added features. All of the added features have been tested both on local and hosted servers and are all working okay. The script is not yet sure if it’s already 100% stable as of now, but we’re getting there! All thanks to those who are beta testing and being able to report what needs to be reported especially back-end wise.

If you are going to do a fresh install using the 1.10.3 release, make sure to download the Full Install zip.
If you are just going to upgrade from 1.10.2 to 1.10.3 release, download the Conversion zip.
You can check the download links here.

There haven’t been any partial changelogs that were shared to our closed Discord server. Make sure to download the conversion ZIP for upgrading.

Stack 1.10.2 Release

There has been some minor errors and tweaks that were overlooked while I was checking the script locally, which has been reported immediately by users. So now we are officially releasing version 1.10.2 of the script! The script is not yet sure if it’s already 100% stable as of now, but we’re getting there! All thanks to those who are beta testing and being able to report what needs to be reported especially back-end wise.

If you are going to do a fresh install using the 1.10.2 release, make sure to download the Full Install zip.
If you are just going to upgrade from 1.10.0 Beta to 1.10.2 release, download the Conversion zip.
You can check the download links here.

Most of the changelogs has been partially shared to our closed Discord server. So, unless you aren’t a part of the community yet, make sure to download the Full Install. And if you are a part of the Discord and has been downloading the partial updates from there, it’s best to download the latest partial zip from the server.

Stack 1.10.0 Beta Release

After 35 days, Stack 1.10.0 Beta is now out! There has been an addition of features that were pending before like the Member Decks. The previous releases had a lot of minor bugs that were easy to fix, which somewhat gave me a challenge due to the fact that not all servers work the same for each user. The most challenging part though, was making the script PHP 8-compatible. As PHP 8 is backwards compatible with its legacy versions, there are some codes that works fine with PHP 7, but not with 8.

If you are going to do a fresh install using the 1.10.0 Beta release, make sure to download the Full Install zip.
If you are just going to upgrade from 1.0.5 Delta to 1.10.0 Beta release, download the Conversion zip.
You can check the download links here.

Upgrading from 1.0.5 to 1.10.0

Since Stack has undergone a major script reconstruction, most of the files and folders must be overwritten and these are included in the conversion zip. Do check the contents of the conversion zip file first and see which folders are not included as these are the folders or files that you can keep.

Regarding the themes folder, since the new Gamma generic theme is added, the folder /theme has been renamed to /themes. If you have already made your own theme or had tweaked the Delta generic theme, make sure to keep a copy of those as well on your local drive!

NOTE: Please make sure to back up everything if you have to, especially your database! If you have already made your own theme, backup those as well since the conversion zip still includes Stack’s generic theme—it also has its necessary changes, so make sure to apply those changes to your own theme too.

P.S.: I have made last-minute addition on the upgrade script that I haven’t tested locally. So, if the upgrade script didn’t work for you, kindly let me know as soon as possible! You should be able to get 8 rows of successful upgrades to 8 tables. If what you get is less than that, report immediately.

Official Delta Release

The 1.0.5 Delta version of Stack CMS is now out! After a week of beta release, there were still some minor bugs that I wasn’t able to look through before and I’m so thankful to everyone on our Discord server for being a part of this beta release. I wouldn’t be able to see these bugs all by myself so a huge thank for all the bug reports and patience!

If you are going to do a fresh install using the Delta release, make sure to download the Full Install zip. If you are just going to upgrade from Beta to Delta release, download the Conversion zip. You can check the download links here.

Upgrading from 1.0.0 to 1.0.5

There are several files and folders that aren’t included in this conversion zip. This is to make sure that these existing files and folders won’t get overwritten when you upload. There haven’t been any changes made on the database, except the addition of the deck_votes table which has already been shared on the partial release from the Discord server. Make sure that you already have that fix added! If not, kindly refer on our #error-report channel for the partial bug fix zip.

NOTE: Please make sure to back up everything if you have to, especially your database! If you have already made your own theme, backup those as well since the conversion zip still includes Stack’s generic theme—it also has its necessary changes, so make sure to apply those changes to your own theme too.
